Event: Nightshift: LA Digital Art Biennale
Goal: Create a site-specific installation that responds to human movement using AI-generated visuals.
Execution: Ruby trained a generative adversarial network (GAN) on thousands of images of city lights, urban decay, and natural textures. The final piece—Echoes of Light—was a projection-based installation that “read” visitors’ movements through motion sensors and transformed them into shifting, dreamlike visuals in real time.
Technical Components:
GAN + real-time pose estimation
Custom software built in TouchDesigner
Projected across a 40-ft wall space
Reception:
Sold out gallery nights for two weeks
Featured in LA Weekly as “a poetic fusion of code and soul”
Acquired by a Berlin digital art museum for permanent display
